Radio veteran Ian Ward is back from his sabbatical, and can now be heard on One FM 94.0 every morning.
In the beginning:
Ian started at UCT Radio in 1998 after completing the Introduction to Radio Broadcasting Course at Cape Techinikon. From there he established Musica Frequency and Clicks Live retail radio station with his company In-House Media cc. He later lauched Discom Vibes, Discom’s retail radio station.
Ian made is mark at Cape Talk radio by entering The Voice of 2000 competition, becoming the first finalist, and started his professional career at Cape Talk doing stand in’s and graveyard shifts. It wasn’t long until Ian started at commercial station Good Hope FM hosting the Fanta Phat Urban Beat in 2003.
Ian was head hunted by the then P4 radio, to join the team to launch Heart 104.9 and to host the Global Top 40. After a three-year stint he then moved back to Good Hope FM and was recognized as positively growing listenership numbers before the breakfast show, as well as keeping the memories alive with his Retro Sundays show.
After leaving commercial station Good Hope FM in 2013, he went on to recover from his battle with colon Cancer. Now in remission, Ian has decided leave a legacy by assisting One FM 94.0 (a station that he founded) with the training of future presenters.
Ian Ward is the Station Manager of One FM 94.0 and also hosts the No 1 Breakfast Show every weekday morning.
The show is fun, light hearted and informative with regards to local traffic and weather conditions.
Weekly features includes Quick Fix Mondays, Women Wednesdays and Fired Up Fridays – a mix of up tempo tracks perfectly mixed to get your weekend started.
