The Happy Hookers are involved in a project with the Nutty Knitters and ‘The Wool Corner’ and are making bags from donated yarn for teen girls. They are planning to fill the bags with essential toiletries, sanitary essentials and a few treats. The bags will be distributed to young girls in our area before school closes. Sector 2 Walkies & Talkies

Sector 2 have their Walkies & Talkies every Monday and Wednesday. This is open to the public to engage with the Neighbourhood Watch in keeping our streets safe. They are meeting at 6:15pm on Monday at Penbury st, off Torrington and on Wednesday they are meeting at 6:15pm at Parklands Superspar on Link Rd. Bring your well behaved dogs, kids or bicycles and help take back your community.

Parklands Neighbourhood Watch

Want to know more about Parklands Neighbourhood Watch and find out how you can assist and join their team? Join them on a Wednesday evening at 7pm at their control room which is at Ashwood Centre, Parklands Main Rd for new members information and applications sessions. Bring your ID and R150 for police clearance and your membership card.

Mamre Garden Club - Open Gardens

Mamre Garden Club will be having their very first Open Gardens in the village at Klinker Street on Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th of October from 10am to 5pm. There will be a craft market , plant sales and the famous Mamre boerewors rolls on sale. Entrance is R50 per person.

The Annual Appreciation service

The Annual Appreciation service, thanking all the roll players in the community will happen on Sunday the 30th at Church on the Rise at 9am. Parklands Hindu Cultural Society - Halloween Dinner

Parklands Hindu Cultural Society is hosting a Halloween Dinner and dance fundraiser on 31st of October 2015 at the Liebrant van Niekerk Hall at 17h30. Prizes for best costume and great Indian food available. Tickets are R250 per couple and funds raised will go to sustaining venue and to help charitable organizations.

Blaauwberg Art Society (BASE)

Blaauwberg Art Society (BASE) will meet at the Milnerton Bowling Club next to the Library at 6.45pm for start 7pm on Tuesday the 1st of November. Visitors are welcome to attend. Sonja Frenz from Durbanville Art Ateljier will be doing a technical presentation with focus on Colour Theory. Just Dogs 1st Annual Dog Show(BASE)

Melkbosstrand Private School and Just Dogs Behaviour invites you to join them at the Just Dogs 1st Annual Dog Show, fundraising for NPC: Honey's Garden for Medical Alert Dogs South Africa on the 5th of November at 10am. The Just Dogs 1st Annual Dog Show is aimed at being a family, fun day, out for everyone and will include dog shows, demonstrations and craft and farmers market stalls for both canine and human to enjoy. The venue is Melkbosstrand Private School in Melkbosstrand. Entry fee is R50 for adults and R30 for children under 16..

Protest against fireworks

On 5 November 2016 at 6pm, some local residents are forming a peaceful chain around the designated fireworks area in Blouberg to protest against fireworks in our area. Meeting point is at News Cafe, Marine Circle.

The 2nd Tygerhof Market Day

The 2nd Tygerhof Market Day in support of the TNHW will take place Sunday the 6th of Nov from 10am-2pm on the field in front of Hellenic soccer field, Pringle Road, Tygerhof. Theye are looking for a large variety of stall holders in particular food and crafts stalls, kiddies stalls and service stalls. Please email Marisa on info@tygerhofnhw.co.za for more info. This is also a great opportunity to get to know and support your neighbours, find out more about your neighbourhood watch and about the Tygerhof Crime Watch Trust, your friendly NHW patrollers will be out and about and braaing up some yummy boerie rolls for sale too.
